Lasioglossum smeathmanellum

Lasioglossum smeathmanellum is a small 'mining' bee, almost hairless and mainly a metallic green. The body length 6-7 mm. Often nests in masonry. The species flies from March or April to early September. It is common in southern Britain, rarer in the north; absent Scotland and Ireland.

These images are from a small colony that seem to be using my east-facing front garden and the old stone wall of my house, for nesting.

See my BLOG post about these bees.
