Andrena carantonica
Andrena carantonica (scotica) are medium-sized bees with a long flying period from end-March to mid-July. They are widely distributed in the UK and forage on a range of flowers.
A dark looking, rather slim Andrena, they lack any clear disgnostic features. The abdomen is black with a fuzzy covering of pale hairs, the thorax is black with orangey/brown hair and the head and legs dark, with orangey/brown hair. The pollen baskets (scopae) in the female, are dark on top and paler below.
